Broken Hill Mayor Tom Kennedy says renewables don’t provide “consistent” power to towns and are “useless” in regional towns.
“You only get power from solar when the sun is shining and wind when it’s blowing,” Mr Kennedy told Sky News Australia.
“The reality is that it’s not consistent power, so you don’t have that baseload power.
“For Broken Hill, it is almost useless.”
