Just for comparison, Zambia's Mopani Cu Co miner is also up for sale. Glencore sold 70% to the Zambian government in 2021 for $US1.5b, which Zambia must sorely regret. It produced 72kt Cu last year, with ambitions to lift to 200kt pa. (ha!) Its financial losses in 2022 widened to $298 million from $74.2 million.

Parties are struggling to agree a price and get the deal over the line after two years of chaotic government operation.
I am not recommending Mopani to anyone. The buyer has a major renovation task ahead. Still, there it is. How much risk would you like?
