Victoria's greedy socialist government has been waging war against residential property investors for several years now, increasing red tape, making it harder to get rid of bad tenants and ramping up land taxes to extreme levels.
Unsurprisingly, investors are leaving the market in droves creating huge shortages in rental properties and that is going to get much, much worse unless the government changes direction quick smart
HC lefties will no doubt respond that the government needs to build the houses instead but they fail to actually think about that for even a second. It was budgeted to cost(we know how good Vic ALP are at doing things on budget) $750k to build each house in RURAL Victoria for the Comm Games, so that number is likely to be $1m in suburban Melbourne. The govt claims they're going to build 80,000 homes ... $1m x 80,000 = $80 BILLION. There's no way the govt can afford anything like that
