I find your understanding for the misguided youths who have joined ISIS touching. So many of us condemn such youthful misadventure with knee jerk extremism. These young people need a period of intense counselling to overcome the trauma they must have witnessed.

In a previous generation there was a lack of understanding extended to those who undertook the Hitler Youth tour of the Baltics (1939 -45). On their return they expressed remorse and just wanted to put the past behind them. Yet the Allies wanted to try some at Nuremburg and the Jews wanted retribution. How inhumane, we are more civilised.
