It seems to me that teachers at a number of public schools push their own political agenda in a manner similar to the religious philosophy that would be promulgated at an Independent Religious school. But at least at a religious school you are fully aware of the particular type of religion and philosphy being promulgated BEFORE you enrol your chlldren. Can you be certain of the political agenda being pushed by the teachers in the State system?
For this reason I believe in competition between the public and private education systems and some degree of funding to the private system by governments by both Federal and State governments. Parents should be given a choice.
However, this funding would exclude the WEALTHY Independent schools as, apart from other reasons, it gives those opposed to Independent School subsidies a reason for berating the Government for 'subsidising the rich' .
