In petroleum geology, the shorthand C1 (for one carbon atom) C2, C3 etc is used to represent methane, ethane, butane etc.
The natural gas associated with oil is generally composed of the molecules that are gaseous at surface conditions ("wet gas") the presence of C1 up to C4 is expected.
So I have been told. Perhaps we still have good news.
