There is only so much that can be done.
For instance, suppose someone has a significant holding in a company and the price is 10c bid, say 20,000 with 250,000 on offer at 10.5c sell.
That person can place a genuine buy bid for say 2 million at 10c. and at that point in time will be happy to pay 10c.
Traders see the bid and immediately push the shares to 12c at which point the 2 million bidder at 10c sells some shares.
Also not wanting to buy on a 16.67% decline in price from 12c to 10c the 2 million bid at 10c. is removed.
