The Board of Fortis Mining Limited (ASX:FMJ) (“the Company”) is pleased to release to the market a copy of the Independent Geological Report on the Zhilianskoe and Chelkar Potash Deposits in Kazakhstan prepared by world potash experts, ERCOSPLAN.
ERCOSPLAN has estimated a total mineralised target at Zhilianskoe Deposit to be between 1,051 – 1,414 million tons (1.051 – 1.414 billion tons) of potash mineralisation site, which is almost double the size of the original estimates that was provided by the vendors based on the calculations of the geological survey of the former Soviet Union which the Company announced to the market on 24 March 2011.
The estimated mineralised targets for the Zhilianskoe Deposit has been further categorised as follows:
Type
Quantity
K2O Grade
Other
Polyhalite
815 – 1088 million tons
7.97 – 9.05%
Horizons Polyhalite 1, 2, 3
Carnallitite and Sylvinite
245 – 326 million tons
11.63 – 19.74%
Horizons 1 – 3 East and 1-3 West.
For the Chelkar Deposit, the sub soil licence area is some 770 sq km with drilling concentrated on two areas totalling approximately 30 sq km. When coupled with the complex structural setting of the Chelkar potash horizons and the wide spacing of the
