It would be nice to get some more detail on the underlying geology but they're unlikely to give us this.
Vaquero-2 is targetting Deep Wilcox, currently giving 'prolific gas production..' in the Esenjay Bell-4 well just over the fence, so Santos is currently eating Dune's lunch. I'd guess that's why they're not wasting any time getting cracking on V-2. Interestingly, V-1 seemed to not go beyond shallower mid-Wilcox so maybe Deep W. was not expected to be productive at V-1 location. If they are right about V-2 targetting same fault block as Esenjay wells it seems we can expect similar production (~10mmcfd) as each of the Esenjay wells. It could be a challenging drill but should be negligible risk of a duster.
