There is some things in here hat seem to to co inside with the Nov 12 release.
Power is a problem. New transmission lines will need to be run.
Open mine numbers have been reduced in numbers and size.
During the initial studies done it was determined that six opencast areas where available to be mined using the opencast mining method. After comments received from both the DMR and I&APs during the public participation process, further investigations where conducted and it was determined that only three opencast sections (consisting of 118 ha) would be mined. The individual sizes of the opencast pits where also reduced to ensure that no mining activities would occur within the enlarged buffer areas surrounding the water sources.
Transport is where the "pig could get slaughtered" (in the words of a mining manager I know)
To even get close to the tonnage they are talking about would take a very large fleet of contract trucks. 90km round trip the Delta siding and will add considerable cost pre ton.
The table in this seems to put this out 2 years.
Note page 98. A very long list of concerns.
And remember. This is all on SA time.
