I think u r right Aussie Joe - lots of pain in them there US banks - their equity has been thrashed and they raise money to keep afloat - where is the growth - nowhere for at least 18mths-2yrs. No doubt more debt problems when economy goes into deeper recession - sovereign funds will only subscribe for so much capital.
Prediction - only mine - gut feel MacBank to really ride this tsunami and do well - might be back to 90's and pick up some quality assets, remember BT and ING Asia. New CEO will be prowling for some tasty morsels and I think he might gang up with some fellow minded to take some quality gear.
