Andrew Chan was 21 years of age at the time of arrest. Shame some of you old gofers can't even remember the stupid antics you probably got up to at the same age. Maybe it was 'just' hooning around the backstreets of some outback town, but what would have happened if you had killed someone else as a result. Such an outcome is still a relatively frequent event despite the improvements in car safety, driver education and a tripling of the time on a provisional license. A vehicle can be more dangerous than a gun in the hands of inexperience and bravado, but avoidable deaths continue regardless.
