This was coming since their compensation got tied to the inventory level reduction. To reduce inventory, one needs to shove whatever model the business holds (which could be outdated in the fast moving fashion world) to customers (who may have come back due to satisfaction with past purchases cause these models may suck) rather than designing new models (to attract new models). The damages is the the brand as well: not suitable path for a challenger that is planning to steal market share. Misplaced incentives => unintended results.
