    Hi Sharetrader

I think the reason not many are interested in diamonds is because of the lack of success of diamond companies and an inability to make positive returns - I consider it one of the hardest sectors in mining to make a dollar and no longer follow or invest in any diamond companies.

I did follow Kimberley Diamond Company (Ellendale Mine), Blinda Diamonds (adjacent) and Namakwa Diamond Company (South African mines) way back when. All were established and run by Messrs Simich and Kennedy, who are obviously shrewd operators as demonstrated by their success in Sandfire. However they couldn't make it work - KDC was sold to Gem Diamonds, who are struggling now themselves and are looking to offload (?); and both Blina and NDC failed in diamonds and are now focused on other commodities. FMS also saw the light after years of unsuccessful diamond exploration and moved into iron ore.
Also read recently that BHP is considering offloading its diamond division.

Not saying that LOM won't be a success (don't know anything about them) but it helps to be aware of general sentiment towards particular sectors.
