    Exxaro started life in the Waterberg as ISCOR mining coal for the soft coking fraction for their coke ovens and steel works n the late 70s. they developed a large stockpile of power station grade coal middlings and bid to ESKOM for a power station ( known as Matimba) which thye were given. otheriwse this was a non flier.

    Both ISCOR and ESKOM were state owned and under the control of the Government of the day (1980s)

    RESGEN do not have this luxury
