"To answer your query about the opening of the SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre, the facility will open on 5th April 2004 for its first event (associated with Rally New Zealand).
"As construction of the SKYCITY Grand Hotel is continuing above the convention centre the centre will operate evenings only from April to August 2004 to maximise use of facilities while ensuring that the customer experience is not compromised by construction activity associated with the hotel.
From 1st August the convention centre will be fully operational - day and night".
