Myocarditis-induced heart failure is caused by the cytokine midkine mediating neutrophil recruitment and NET formation
This will be presented in April by Ludwig Weckbach at
Frontiers in CardioVascular Biology 2018,
a congress by the European Society of Cardiology.

I've tried to find some more information online but it seems to me that no media have been published yet about this research paper.
However, it may be of interest to know that Cellmid's Midkine Symposium in April 2018 is to be hosted by Mr Weckbach and Barbara Walzog's team of researchers at LMU Munich.
