On 29th August it should be a bit clearer; that's when the results come out.
As has been pointed out we should exepct a loss of at least 1.5bn which might be nearer 2bn. For the notes to be comletely impaired we would need to see the 1bn in real net assets (see finch2 posting) be reduced to -350m - so a further write down of nearly 1.5bn. For that to happen AFG's assets would on average need to lose 20% across the board.
