OHD PROCESS OFFERS LOW COST PRODUCTION OF AGRICULTURAL BIOSTIMULANT & FERTILISERS
Oxidative Hydrothermal Dissolution (OHD) products can be used in multiple areas according to Greenpower Energy and Thermaquatica Inc. presentations and papers;
- Agricultural (fulvate-type biostimulants and fertilizer)
- Platform chemicals
- Liquid fuels (alcoholic and oxygenated)
Agricultural (fulvate-type biostimulants and fertilizer)
When we look at the list we will see it the most viable and economic use of it would be in agricultural area as biostimulants and fertilisers. And company has already said this as given above; “The company anticipates supplying these biostimulants to the agricultural sector at prices that will make them attractive to the broadacre sector”
Platform chemicals
A platform chemical acts as a building block which can subsequently be converted to a number of high-value
chemicals or materials like PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles. I don’t think that Greenpower would be going into producing this high value investment when lower cost biostimulants and fertiliser business is waiting out there!
Liquid fuels (alcoholic and oxygenated)
It is obvious that the production of liquid fuels by OHD process would not be viable in the current low oil and gas price conditions.

COAL TO LIQUIDS PROJECT - OHD (Oxidative Hydrothermal Dissolution)
Greenpower Energy Ltd has a project for the development and commercialisation of its unique coal conversion process called OHD (Oxidative Hydrothermal Dissolution).
OHD process is a novel and environmentally friendly technology, uses crushed coal, water and liquid oxygen. No other materials are used and no greenhouse gases are produced.
Oxidative Hydrothermal Dissolution (OHD) is a novel coal conversion technology developed with support from the Illinois Clean Coal Institute. OHD works by reaction of coal and/or biomass with small amounts of oxygen in high temperature, high pressure, liquid water. This breaks up the coal’s structure, resulting in the generation of low molecular weight, water soluble products. Complete conversion of the coal is readily achievable with 70-90% recovery of the original carbon as water soluble products.
