"The evidence makes PPS a potential prototypic disease-modifying agent for OA" (page 5).
Prototypic means the first ever, the prototype!
And meanwhile patents that cover treatment of OA with PPS administered by any route (including oral), Bene PPS (ie Elmiron the drug used in this study) the only FDA approved PPS for human use, and 25 year exclusive supply of said approved drug for 25 years from registration. Good find from Iken.
