Look on the bright side. It's a clear endorsement for the drug's efficacy. If they are willing to pay US$1350 for a vet product, what would they pay for a FDA-approved product recommended by their doctor? I don't think he would be doing this if there was an approved option available, ie. clear evidence of unmet need. You have to trust 99% of doctors to do the right thing. It'll eventually come out of the government/insurer's pocket anyway, there would be no benefit to prescribe their patient with a black market option.
