Personal opinion is that these mega companies are not dumb - with all the negative evidence against tanezumab thus far, there is still a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel - now they may be advocating a continuing process to provide an element of doubt into the minds of investors to keep a lid on the speculation around other potential players in the OA areas - not least of which is PAR.
If so, why?
Could Eli Lilly/Pfizer be a potential match to PAR down the track, after phase III is underway?
I am not usually into all the conspiracy theories around, but at least one of the majors is surely likely to take PAR out at some stage, and if the tanezumab trial results are so poor, what else is motivating pressing ahead? If in fact they are pressing ahead, rather than just saying they are!
