Firstly I'll have you note that I'm not a medically trained person. Obviously I'm happy for anyone qualified to correct my interpretation.
I understand from the literature that 68Ga-labeled prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA-11) PET/CT detects recurrent prostate cancer with sensitivity superior to standard-of-care imaging. So this trial (of a relatively small sample of 25 men selected) compared the results of the baseline 68Ga analysis to the results using 64Cu SAR-bombesin.
A considerable number of the patients were found to have negative results based on 68Ga but 64Cu demonstrated sites of disease recurrence in 44% of those negative cases. This adds further weight to the suggestion that 64Cu is a superior diagnostic tool for the detection of prostate cancer in certain instances.
