There isn't much to say honestly. Like in Roulette, the ball is now spinning and one has to wait for it to stop to see on what colour it will land. Dreamers hope it will land on the green, but the probabilities are strongly in favour of red or black, one you win, the other you lose.
I've been following the comments over the last few days. I can already sense the TV2U zealots lining up the party argument that goes like 'It's not TV2U's fault if this doesn't go through, David said so!' and that is partially true. I say partially because if I am running a business, I have to have very good reasons to put all my eggs in one basket. I am fully supportive of TV2U doing their best for Indosat, at the detriment of Brazil and PGASCOM if necessary, but I am not sitting at the table, in front of the Indosat people (junior management? middle management? senior management?), and I have no way of telling if they are just stringing me along with ruses and red herrings or if they are dead serious about this deal happening now. A good management can make such assessment.
Anyway, for that deal, all very much depends on Indosat Ooredoo. That's the direction I am looking, not holding my breath for a TV2U announcement any time soon. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Indosat Ooredoo hasn't advertised the World Cup on any of its platforms, however, for the last week, they have been pushing unlimited YouTube for a dirt cheap price. In my opinion, the only reason they are not advertising the WC is because they don't have the rights, at least not yet. The YouTube push is a customer retention exercise, nothing else. That's how I read it.
On the opposite side of the ring, Telkomsel, the major mobile operator in Indonesia, is advertising the WC live on mobile through their MAXstream app. See attached pic, and better still, watch their YouTube video on that link

On an aside, ask a branding expert what they think of MAXstream versus iStream. This has nothing to do with TV2U, but Indosat has to think about it.
Now, we all know that Telkomsel are wasting their time advertising because they have such a huge subscriber base, bigger than Indosat in fact. Like Optus here in Australia are wasting their time advertising. Right? The fact is that if you know the basics of marketing, you know that you have to advertise a product even if you are offering it for free,
if you have the product that is! You do that to attract competitors' subscribers as well as retain your own. How else would a subscriber with Telkomsel or any other mobile operator know that the service is available on Indosat? That's why Telkomsel, Optus and a bunch of others around the world are wasting their time advertising.
Competition in the mobile sector in Indonesia is very strong and will intensify. We will see shifts in the market in the next few years. There is an excellent report out there, unfortunately it's for subscribers only and I can't attach it, but you can get a feel for what is in it from their web site. Everyone is going after the smaller operators now, and Telkomsel is doing very well in that area. Indosat Ooredoo is trying to catch up.

Anyway, no point dwelling more on that. This is simply my opinion about what's going on. One can read into what is happening whatever they wish.
