Quite right! Nuclear Medicine 3D SPECT combined with low dose CT is showing great promise in all aspects of respiratory medicine with plenty of peer reviewed research to back it up. That being said CT is still #1 for lung imaging. Hyperpolarised gases used with MRI are rare, research based and hugely expensive..... not even on the table for consideration.
