pnv and 4dx quite different company but I gave example of sigma as well as avita (AVH)...all of the three companies future changed after appointment of new ceo.
in case of avita the previous CEO was very intelligent in terms of research and FDA approval process but over time he took everything for granted in terms shareholder value creation was secondary thing and it was resulted in share price downtime...!
ceo and chairman makes a lot of difference in success of companies. Small companies like PNV where chairman has majority stake and 4dx where CEO has majority stake normally govern based on my way or highway term and it isn't good for any company. PNV fortune changed with new CEO but chairman didn't changed his attitude so CEO leaving company share price on nose dive and now depending upon who they chose next will decide their future but for 4dx you have allowed this mob long time to perform but while he took 14% pay rise shareholder got massive haircut on share price plus dilution...so this is the time for him to move on in my opinion but if shareholder thinks he is the right choice then good luck!
