    The 4DMedical XV scanner is new technology, but it is based on XRay fluoroscopy I believe, which is a continuous XRay “movie” taken at different angles of the lung, which is then analysed to show airflow by looking at how the different parts of the lung move. It does not image the air itself as I understand it.
    I have no problem with that, and that video Stu posted is interesting. But it’s still relatively new and in the research stage clinically, and not on Medicare Australia. It may get big, but need to see it taking off with more machines installed.

    It’s what they can do with regular CT scans that is of more interest. These use static inspiratory and expiratory images it looks like, with estimations of ventilation. But I am yet to see how this measures blood flowing in blood vessels more accurately that some form of contrast.
