"yuppie boomer investors" is a bit of a contradiction hahah but otherwise I do agree with you that it will be a much longer and harder road to adoption than people are expecting and the company is leading on. If you are a doctor, then in addition to the "stoic" nature you could also attest to the fact that each ward in a hospital will only get a limited allocation in the yearly budget towards new machinery/equipment. The staff in that ward will decide what most needs upgrading and that generally means hospitals dont get to just drop money on new top-of-the-range machines if the tech they've already got is working and doing the job.

It’s often worse than this. Most hospitals have administrators (not doctors) that oversee budgets for departments. Often it is allocated to additional or flexible staffing. Any capital expenditure is rarely discussed, although the lead consultant in a department can have input (depending on structure). It seems to be more about the patient’s perception of their care than what will improve treatment. State/ training hospitals can be a little better. In private often there’s more of what isn’t needed (water features in the hallway or fancy sofas) and not enough of what is needed - like beds and xray equipment.
