Sorry , I read Yaq's post around the wrong way. I'll have another go and see if I get it right this time.
By assigning a higher price , you are effectively talking up the resource . Almost a bit 'blue sky'. Sure you might get $9 for it but how long will you have to wait for prices to get that high ? Conversely , the buyer is always going to try to talk it down . Undeveloped , or less developed assets are always purchased at a discount . I suppose the truth is somewhere in between ?

It's interesting that an investor can work out his own valuation based on stated reserves and yet depending on who classified the reserves , your valuation could be quite wrong.
