Depending on your expertise think twice about managing rental yourself. Usually better in the hands of a competent manager. This way you resist the temptation of letting to family or friends. Easy to be taken for a ride when they are in plus difficult to up rent or evict let alone enforce cleanups etc.
Experience of doing it myself has been poor. Few renters look after it as their own unless there is pressure on them sad to say.
