He's issued a revised statement.
“After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair and getting caught,” Mr. Petraeus wrote. “Such behavior is unacceptable as a the leader of an organization such as ours, which normally knows how to cover tracks. This afternoon, the president graciously accepted my resignation.”
