I have a small horticulture block and try to impact the environment as little as possible. drive a mini car which does the same milage per annum as I bike (7000Kms )use home grown wood for the home fire but I realise I do impact the environment still negatively just try to mitigate that impact as much as possible
What concerns me with this project is how it will impact on the water supplies of those below from any tailing dams. I have seen several tailing dam disasters. Personally I prefer mining in WA where the higher evaporation compared to percolation makes tailing dams relatively benign and also means the effects are mitagated as much as possible.
The area where they are looking to mine is a tourist mecca for hiking i would think long term that would give a far more benificial payback for everyone rather than a select few.
