Oh well, I do not support a change in date as I posted the other day - see Post #: 30289538 - but within this embedded post herein I stated "If we are to change the date I suggest the date change to when the Australia Act 1986, which broke our ties from the UK, commenced been 3 March."
This is when we broke all ties with the UK and became our own Nation - that is Britain had no longer any implicit right to make laws in Australia - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia_Act_1986
It is the date Australia effectively became Australia under its own rule, without any potential interference from the UK.
Anyway as I said I do not support change because I am sure some of the poms living here won't be happy with 3 March, aboriginal groups will still find something else to whinge about IMO and I am sure they and others will probably still call any date celebrating Australia's birth/day of been Australian as Invasion Day nonetheless. IMO
