Some random thoughts for the weekend about ARM, Brainchip, Nvidia, Softbank, NASA, DARPA and the US, China cold war.

1. When the ARM Nvidia takeover was announced there was back lash about the potential to create a monopoly - Google, Apple, Samsung and others actually raised objections in the US.

2. The US has argued and applied pressure on the UK to permit the takeover as the risk of a monopoly can be managed and the benefit of removing ARM from Softbank that is partly controlled by the CCP is greater than the monopoly risk in any event.

3. NASA from all of the research carried out here appears to have discovered Brainchip at least as early as 2019.

4. In October, 2020 Brainchip received US export approval but shortly after the former CEO of Brainchip after extensive time and energy was expended in cultivating the Chinese market announced to shareholders that China was not required. The WHY continues to plague us???

5. NASA continues to engage with Brainchip and if you believe the acting CEO they are excited about the AKIDA technology.

6. The US and China are in an Ai technology race.

7. The number of former ARM employees of a high level joining Brainchip in the last 8 months has been unusual.

8. A senior ARM employee agreeing to speak on a Brainchip podcast is unusual.

9. The definitive deal between ARM and Nvidia was announced on 13.9.20 and it is clear that such an agreement would have taken months of negotiation considering what was involved.

10. The US Government could if it wished make orders preventing any company for example Brainchip dealing with any company that might create a national security risk. ARM as it was owned by Softbank could have represented such a company and indeed the US government argument for approving the Nvidia takeover is based on national security issues.

11. The interesting thing about ARM being disconnected from China as serving the US national security interest is that ARM has been fully engaged with China for years and ARM IP would be well and truly already in the hands of the CCP.

12. ARM is not a manufacturer of semiconductors so its position is not the same as TSMC where national security issues are concerned.

So taking all these diverse and connected points into account was ARM expected to become by reason of its activities a seller of IP that was new and yet to be disclosed to the market and the US Government was concerned to prevent it falling into the hands of the CCP and as such the issues around Nvidia achieving a monopoly paled into insignificance as a result.

As I said these are just a series of random thoughts without an answer.

Well said as usual F/F,I,m not sure when the Nvidia takeover is going to happen,but i would think until then we are not going to have an IP signed with Arm until then.
