Dollar cost averaging for want of a more prestigious method often pushed by Fin Planners and have a natural tendencies to apply to individual portfolio.
Seems there are plenty of posters betting the farm on one stock and will continue to buy with big drops as if that is the only opportunity in the market. It seems to be on plenty of individual stocks but that's what make an efficient market. Another comical cliche - wealth transfer from the impatient to the patient or big drops is the shaking of the apple tree and pick the ripe fruits. Just make sure they are not rotten.
