why ? because of two reasons: 1. it will look better having the shallow oxide material at the new discoveries involved in the early stages. Will facilitate faster mine payback, which in turn , will make the BFS look far more attractive when it comes time to raise funds for development.
Fast payback of capex debt will be a huge issue in the coming years as lending becomes even tighter.
2. Market showed huge concerns about the sulphide ores at konk main/east. So the amx lads are trying to demonstrate that these ore types may not even need to be mined for many many years into the project, which at that point , they will have plenty of new oxide material to blend it with.
