I believe that the Fintronics situation is not one of their own making. FCP Brencorp are astute players of the Asian market and they would have done some pretty thorough DD ahead of investing in Fintronics. I continue to get the impression that they got stiffed by the incumbents and were told some pretty convenient untruths early on. However, the playing field has become more level recently and I sense that the chairman of Fintronics has been caught fair and square with his pants around his ankles.I seriously doubt whether, given the political nature of this situation, CUS could have ever publically articulated their predicament or explained their plan for solving the problem. More importantly, though, they appear to have a plan, and no doubt we will see what happens stortly.

Re Australia, the slow pace of ATM reform process has clearly been their undoing. Now, whether you put that down to bad planning by CUS or factors out of their control, really doesn't matter. Basically, the last two years have been a massive gap filling process, with Baker et al struggling to manage expectations against a back drop of one delay after another. Personally, I blame third parties AND Baker for this. Baker should have come clean earlier about the delays he was potentially facing, and the RBA should have, frankly, started growing a backbone. The big banks are in business to make profit. I pay my taxes for, amongst other things, a level playing field when it come to business. As a consumer I do not want to pay higher fees than necessary and I have absolutely no interest in protecting the cosy big bank Guild that allowS this sort of collusive behaviour to exist. The sooner the RBA realises this the sooner we get there.
