The scriptures show nothing, people read the words and then interpret according to their own biases, or they parrot the words and believe what some preacher or religious institution advises them is the unbiased truth. Neither case is likely to provide a satisfactory truth.

As for the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, or the Spirit of God, or the Influence of God, or the Divine Guidance of God, this is the active force of God required to inspire and empower a Teacher, Guide, Prophet, Messiah, Manifestation to translate the Will of God to human kind. I don't believe that God speaks to individuals, people who believe this tend to be mentally unbalanced.

So the Holy Ghost and the Comforter are not the same thing, but they are in the sense that the Comforter is a faithful servant of the Will of God. The Comforter is a personage who is likened to the return of Jesus. Obviously Jesus is physically dead, His body has decayed and dispersed into atoms and He will not return physically, but a spirit empowered by God will come and have the same spiritual authority as Jesus.

And in others scriptures it says they will sing a new song, this is a completely new religion. So the return of Jesus will be nothing like the Christian imagines and if they were to look for qualities rather than the absolute state of Jesus returning it might start making sense.

This said, no prophecy for the return of Jesus extends past 1844, so He returned then or He never will.

Jesus was empowered by the Holy Spirit with measure, He spoke relative to an age, a need and a capacity. That age, that need and that capacity have long past and the NT Teachings are no longer sufficient for today.

It matters not if Christians stick to or return to the core truths, the reality is that Christianity has shattered into tens-of-thousands of parts exactly as a body does when it is dead and decaying. Jesus even told you that new wine can not be put in an old wine skin and new cloth can not be sewn onto old cloth. Jesus is telling you that His return requires a new religion and a new Teacher, the Comforter.

Why is it always somebody else who is imagining and not yourself?

There is a new song, but there is also one being sung, "as of a new" = it is not new, like the likes of what your promoting, it just seems knew, but I suggest it is the original, as in truth.

God's religion, plan, does not change, so there is NO new religion that is of God.

It does matter, because by not sticking to them, resulted in these thousands you reference.
Truth in the area I mentioned, are NOT negotiable.

John 4:23, 24 - But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

I'll give you my example and another's example of a verse, and let you decide whether it's somebody else, or me.

Me -> This now is the eternal life that they should know You (Father) the only true God and whom you have sent, Jesus Christ.
Somebody else with this verse as they see it -> This now is the eternal life that they should know You (Father) the only true God -> Father, Son and Holy Spirit and whom you have sent, Jesus Christ.

Another example -> Me -> And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
Somebody else -> And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. -> Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Now LOOK at 2 Thes 2:10, 11 and try and tell me that, that is not in play.
