1 Thes ch 4 - For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

Now picture the scene when he rode into town on the Donkey, they went out to meet him and about faced and continued with him to where he was going.
The above quote, he is coming to earth, hence those awoken appear on earth, Jesus being the King.

Acts 1:11 - who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
Rev 1:7 - Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

John ch 5 - and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.
Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice
and come out—those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.

Who are in the graves -> Gen 2:7 - And Yehowah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. = (living being = definition of soul).

So that living being - soul, wakes up.
