1. Man GOT the breath/spirit, into his lungs and 2. Man didn't receive a spirit after coming alive. as the breath/spirit is what made him alive, resulting in him, the whole package becoming a living soul. This breath/spirit doesn't have a mind of it's own so to speak, independent of the living soul, person.
Keep in mind, one of the definition options for spirit = breath, which is basically oxygen.
Hence the man didn't come alive, this living soul, and on top of that, receive a spirit or soul independent of the living soul, or living being, which is what a living soul is deemed as.
