I think you have been miss informed. If you bought WEB on the 2nd of April, then you are not entitled to the CR offer. 02/04 was the EX-entitlement date, which means if you sold your shares on that day, you will still eligible for the CR offer because on the close of the record date (3rd April) you will be still the share holder on the records of CHESS registry despite you actually no longer hold the shares, however, if you bought the share on the Ex - date (02/04/2020), you will not eligible for the CR offer because your holding will need T-2 days to be able to show on the CHESS registry, which means you will miss the record date (3rd April). This is also the reason why sp will fall on the EX- day, eg., EX-dividend, because you can off load your holding while still eligible for the entitlement of, eg., dividend, or share allocation etc.
