I never really thought about shoes as an extension of an individuals character too deeply before owning this stock. Throughout history, shoes have always been an important fashion statement, but i think more so than ever, high profile celebs/ musicians/ sports stars/ other influential individuals have impacted on youth, the perceived need to impress with some bling/ kaching shoes. The rise of the Asian consumers demand for quality showoff shoes is unprecedented. AX1's strategy of being very fluid and reactive to ever-changing consumer demand by rapidly evolving their brand licensing agreements, and constantly cutting loose under-performing stores and brands, is what i find impressive.
It requires constant analysis of sales and trends, and leaves no room for lazy. Agility and finger-on-the-pulse management is what will continue to succeed. Ultimately, after proving itself with consistency of good sales in a weak economy, i believe the company will be taken over in years to come.
This stock has been my best performer, and continues to reward with a generous dividend.
