Stockman, when Finkelstein et al told how they have a new method to test if a potential PD drug works, they for sure had a temptation to see if and how ATH434 works in their ape model ( see my posting on the 26th of Jan about this new method " Levodopa Rescues Retinal Function in the Transgenic A53T Alpha-Synuclein Model of Parkinson's Disease"). Electroretinography and Optica coherence tomography data would be excellent in following the gradual changes during the development of PD and how the treatment works. However, the primate study's main purpose was not to demonstrate the retina changes but brain and other issues. I hope they also could do the retina studies without disturbing the main study. In any case, they have the retinas of both placebo and treatment apes at the end of the study.
