Taken from his home at gunpoint over a year ago, held in solitary confinement by Muslim extremists who have no English language skills. Poor man, what a way to end up, especially for one who has served in our military forces. He was happy to risk his life for our country's political minions, but seems that any efforts they have made in return have so far come to nothing.

Australia's response seems to have mostly been to leave it in the hands of the Philippine government. The following is in response to a video that has circulated on the net showing the captive Mr Rodwell alive, but cleartly a broken man.

"Foreign Minister Bob Carr said while confirmation that Mr Rodwell was alive was welcome, the fact that he was still in captivity was ‘‘a major concern.’’

Senator Carr said the Philippines Government was leading efforts to secure Mr Rodwell’s release, and the Australian Government was assisting Philippines authorities."

Well Mr Carr, if this man's situation is such a major concern, why not get our SAS or similar high calibre men, working in conjunction with Philippine authorities to go and get Mr Rodwell out of there or pay the $23,000- ransom demanded by the kidnappers.
