A US Special Forces soldier was killed while on a mission to rescue a US Army Doctor, kidnapped in Afghanistan the other week.

That's a great outcome isn't it?

Why send in the SAS to rescue this bloke?

It may cause deaths among the rescuers, plus his captors will shoot him at the first hint of a rescue attempt.

Live in harms way and you'll get harmed IMO.

I'd hate to be in his situation of course, and I hope he gets out of there alive somehow.
