I hope power bills aren't a concern for you. In Philippines you will be shocked how high they can be if you actually live in western standards (refridgerator, aircon, tv, etc). Meralco charge an arm and a leg.

$600 will not live like a king. Its only 24,000Peso. And you say per month?

Defiantely do-able, especially if single. But by no means a king.

When I lived there about 8years ago with my wife, we lived on a tight budget. About $500/mth. It was not luxurious. And inflation has had a major impact especially on rice.

Assuming you need a visa run every 12months, and the usual extension along the way. Add in a airfare. I was flying to Australia. So it averaged out to nearly $100/month. But ofcourse you could fly to Hongkong for less.

It's a good idea, and I'll permanently retire there in a few years. But don't be fooled into thinking $600/mth is living like a king.

Even most the websites base it on US pensions. Their was info on living on $550/month. Thats now been updated to $750/month.

    Goodluck.
