One of the problems I have with this scheme is that it doesnt take into account superannuation income, because that isnt taxable once you're over 60.
So a person can be receiving quite a high income and still be getting cheap medicine etc.
Compared to someone trying to raise a family on similar money, getting nowhere like the same support.
All things being equal, I reckon the government should provide anyone who needs assistance, a basic, fair, consistent and equal package regardless of race, gender or age.
The special interest groups have hijacked the process and led to the complexity and disparity we see today within the taxation and welfare system.
Time for a complete overhaul, and realignment of the whole setup.
