    The whole situation is rather unsatisfactory. My parent's generation who lived through WW2 were told they could expect an old age pension as they'd contributed taxes through their lives. A lot in my Baby Boomers Gen probably thought the same thing. It was only Keating's initiative with compulsory super that the penny dropped.

    Anyone who started work after 1990 is being catered for to some degree via super, though 9% is far too low.The post war boomers hitting retirement now have worked most of their lives without super by and large. Many have just enough to disentitle themselves to an aged pension but not enough to live on. It's quite sad.

    I realised a long time ago I ought not rely on the government for anything so I have squirelled away into super for a long time. I'm glad I did. Those reliant on Centrelink are going to be squeezed.
