I heard some talk back types on perth radio today saying that in the UK public phones have been fitted with wi fi boosters to provide service to hand helds and laptop's etc that are close enough to the pay phones to get a connection. does anyone know if this access is limited to subscribers of the British telco itself? If not, how do they (presumably BT) make a quid out of it?
clearly TLS has turned its back going forward on land lines and wants to rebuild itself on mobile phone and wi-fi type revenue streams.
I must admit it would seem very odd for TLS to bother with a test roll out of PIE's web phones if this wasn't the plan for it, as they will clearly need to emulate BT's service going forward to get a strategic advantage over optus etc.
on that basis I bought in today. if this is even half right it looks like nice buying @ 2.2c.
