Basically Mint's products will be distributed and integrated as a customised solution to MYOB's accounting software.
From what I understand, Mint generates revenue from this arrangement in the following four ways:
- Licence fee from MYOB
- Transaction fee - basically a fee of between 2.75% to 3.25% on transaction value is charged to the end user, with MYOB and Mint both getting a share of this fee
- User fee - MYOB will increase monthly subscription fees for its software after bundling with Mint's mobile payment solution. Mint will be getting a cut of this fee increase
- Hardware fee - Mint will receive an upfront fee for the hardware distributed, ranging from $50 to $170 depending on which solution is used
The above information has predominantly been sourced from a recent analyst report for Mint.
